I live in Belgium in a small city about 30 km south from Brussels. It's a nice place to live, the nature is very pleasant and there are always a lot of forests with beautiful trees. In my country there are artists of all kinds such as painters and of course wood turners.
I'm 58 years old and recently retired after a 42 year career in household appliances. Therefore, I have enough time now to spend woodturning. I've discovered woodturning at the end of 2004 by meeting a pro woodturner at a craft show.
Immediately I was sure that woodturning should be a part of my hobby activities and that I would discover and enjoy myself with the creation of the wonderful turnings that I've admired by this turner. A few months and a couple of lessons by a pro woodturner, I was ready to jump in the turners world. I couldn’t imagine that in such a short time I would become so completely addicted to this wonderful hobby.
I've built this site because I wanted to share my passion for woodturning. I am proud and happy to share with you my turnings.
The turnings that you will see are various. I use all different kinds of wood but my favorite choice is a nice native wood and especially the burls when I can find them. Some fruit trees also give wonderful wood for turning.
Since a couple of months I started also pen turning. Pens are usually turned in more precious woods such as, snakewood, cocobolo, rosewood, tulipwood, bocote and violetwood. I will also use acrylic resins for some pens.
The wood turners world is really fabulous, there are great artists and I have discovered that they are always ready to share useful tips with beginners like myself.
